delivered not read
/dɪˈlɪvərd nɒt rɛd/
CommonA message that reached someone's phone but hasn't been opened yet.
Technically gives the recipient plausible deniability since they haven't opened the message. But prolonged delivered not read can feel just as loaded as being left on read once enough time passes.

Delivered not read vs left on read
delivered not read
Delivered not read means the message arrived but was not opened.
left-on-read
Left on read means the message was opened and no reply came.
Origin and context
The phrase comes directly from the delivery status indicators in iMessage, WhatsApp, and similar apps that show whether a message was received by the device and whether it was opened. As two-tier status indicators became standard across major platforms in the 2010s, users developed language around each state.
