Comes from anime character archetypes but widely applied to real people. The contrast between the hostile exterior and the warm interior is the whole point. Often used affectionately.

Do not use it when
- Someone is just rude or unkind with no hidden warmth.
- Someone is shy but not actively defensive or cold.Use “dandere” instead.
