Use it when

  • You haven't had a hug or any physical closeness in a while and it's getting to you.
  • Someone tears up when a friend puts a hand on their shoulder.
  • Joking about being single or isolated for a long stretch.
  • Describing why someone clung to a hug longer than expected.

Do not use it when

  • You just mean someone is lonely emotionally without the physical component.Use “touch-deprived” instead.
  • You mean someone is clingy in a relationship.Use “clingy” instead.
