Rapidly strafing in and out of cover to gather information or bait shots without fully exposing yourself.

Has two purposes: information gathering (checking if someone is holding an angle) and bait (making a camper shoot early so you know their position before committing to a real peek).

Origin and context

Emerged from Counter-Strike strategy vocabulary in the 2010s. The term describes a technique that experienced players had been using long before it was named, and became standard coaching language as CS:GO grew.
