  • Kids are doing or saying something incomprehensible from the internet.
  • Discussing the youngest generation's relationship with screens and content.
  • A child is speaking entirely in brainrot memes.

Do not use it when

  • You mean teenagers. Those are still Gen Z.Use “zoomer” instead.
  • You're being genuinely cruel about actual children.

Origin and context

The demographic label was coined by researchers around 2015 for those born after 2012. The internet slang usage took off around 2023-2024 when Gen Z started observing (and being horrified by) what younger kids were watching and saying online.
